How does hypnobirthing work?

Answer: Hypnobirthing works by teaching expectant mothers to enter a state of deep relaxation and focus during childbirth, which helps reduce stress and tension. This state of relaxation can facilitate a smoother birthing process and potentially decrease the need for medical interventions. It’s not a magic wand, it’s something that you need to practice.

You can explore using recordings to help access these deep states and affirmations as daily reminders of you capacity and capability to birth your way.

DID YOU KNOW? You can even listen to recodrings as you drift off to sleep! So it doesn't have to take a lot of extra time in your day (I know you're already super-busy parents)

Does hypnobirthing guarantee a pain-free childbirth?

Answer: Hypnobirthing aims to reduce pain and fear during childbirth, but it does not guarantee a pain-free experience. I'd seriously question anyone selling that. Pain is subjective and unmeasurable, some people experience different levels of intensity to others. Some would call this pain and others wouldn’t.

Many people find that their ability to make decisions well, cope with plans changing and to take control oif their birth experience benefits from the antenatal education and good coping skills that come through taking a hypnobirthing course.

The women changed their perspective on birth and got to know their inherent resources. They acquired various coping strategies and techniques that enhanced their sense of control. The women gained ownership of their birth and found their active participation to be meaningful. They were informed of different options concerning their birth which made it possible to make informed decisions. The participation in hypnobirth classes, and personal experience from giving birth, made women wish for integration of mental birth preparation in the public health service, thus strengthening women’s trust in ther ability to give birth, which was pivotal to the participants’ birth satisfaction.

Can a partner or a support person be involved in the hypnobirthing process?

Answer: A big

YES! Birth partners can play a pivotal and active role in the hypnobirthing process, providing assistance and encouragement during labour as well as helping your nervous system to stay calm by using the techniques to calm themselves.

It's one of the things that I love most about facilitating hypnobirthing courses, that you can really lean into one another and explore options together. Both having skills to regulate your nervous sytem is a wonderful start (or addition) to your lives as parents.

What resources are available for learning hypnobirthing techniques (e.g., classes, books, online

courses)?

Answer: Hypnobirthing in-person classes, face-to-face courses, private sessions, books, online courses, and audio files are available as resources to learn hypnobirthing techniques. It may be that one of those, or a combination of 2 or more is ideal for you. I'd say that some audio recording are pretty much essential
